The fibre itself is so fine. It is only 0.006 of a millimetre thick. That is an unbelievable 150 times smaller than the finest nylon in the sheerest of ladies' stockings.
The fibre itself is shaped. Other microfibres are round which means that they have a tendency to roll over small particles of dust and grime. The Optiwipe fibre has a unique shape with distinct edges that improve its ability to pick up the minutest of particles with ease.
The fibre is knitted. Many other microfibres are woven which limits the denseness (and the effectiveness) of the final fabric. These woven fabrics are easily identified, because they have to have a hem sewn on them to prevent fraying.
The Optiwipe knitting is unbelievably dense. One square centimetre of Optiwipe fabric contains and amazing 12,500 filaments. This is significantly higher than any other microfibre. And the more filaments you can pack in then the better it cleans. Nothing cleans lenses better than Optiwipe.
Washable time and time again, you only have to feel it to tell the difference.
